A Ruffle Sleeve Top in Summery Polka Dots

When I saw this (free!) In the Folds Ruffle Sleeve Top sewing pattern making the rounds on Instagram, I knew I had to make one for myself. And, as luck would have it, I’d just thrifted a couple of yards of navy cotton with white polka dots that was begging to be made into a light summer top.

Y’all, I love French seams. With all my heart. And I’ve underestimated the number of ways they can be used to give a garment a sleek, professional finish. This top uses them all over, even in the seam that attaches the ruffle to the sleeve.

I’m not really used to this boxy/billowy silhouette, both in the hem and the full sleeves, but I could definitely get used to it (particularly when these Nashville temperatures start soaring into the 90s…yuck).

Now I’m dreaming of whipping one up in an eyelet fabric…

What’s your favorite summer sewing pattern?
